CREW East Bay President’s Message for Fall 2019
By Kristen Thall Peters
CREW East Bay has had an amazing Fall thanks to the tremendous contribution of so many CREW East Bay members at every level of our organization. In addition to continuing to provide industry leading topics and expert speakers for our programs located in all areas of the East Bay, we also participated in the following events:
CREW Network Convention
: We had eleven CREW East Bay attendees at convention this year, including CREW Network President, Holly Neber. At convention, CREW Network unveiled its new brand, including a new logo which you have undoubtedly seen each time you access your CREWbiz app. You can also look for it in the CREW Network media placements in our market over the coming months.
In addition to learning how to further enrich our chapter, we all received great value and business benefits from attending the convention, including exploration of innovative, industry-leading projects and developments through exclusive learning excursions, access to 1,200+ commercial real estate leaders for deal making and business networking opportunities, and valuable knowledge through 35+ industry-focused workshops, mega sessions, general sessions, conversation corners and breakout sessions. Great job, Holly and team!
: CREW East Bay worked with the Undergraduate Real Estate Club ("UREC") at UC Berkeley, CREW SF and the Fisher Center for Real Estate & Urban Economics at Cal's Haas School of Business to host a UCREW event on Tuesday, October 29th. Our key note speaker was Jackie Safier, CEO of Prometheus Real Estate Group, with CREW members rounding out our panel showcasing the many and diverse careers in commercial real estate to students and recent alums from Cal, Cal Poly and St. Mary's to increase the pipeline of women to the industry. Click on the link below to see a video clip of Jackie's "lessons learned" from her career as told to our UCREW participants.
Doreen Del Testa and Crystal Roseberry were amazingly helpful with set-up and checking-in our 50 registrants and 15-20 walk-ins (yes, they started coming so quickly that we actually lost count). Thanks also to Pam Raumer for coordinating our marketing and flyers, as well as Nori Gleeman for assisting with the catering arrangements. Special thanks go to our moderator, Brie Solaegui, and panelists, Sonia Sharma, Anita Jimenez and CREW-SF President-elect, Samantha Low, who all did great jobs.
Sponsorship Appreciation Lunch
: We all know that our sponsors are the backbone of our chapter. As a thank you to each of them for their continued participation as a sponsor of CREW East Bay, we held a special lunch to celebrate their contributions. The support of our sponsors is critical to our objective of providing the very best educational opportunities in commercial real estate. Thanks to our sponsors: CREW East Bay could not have done it without you!
